Our 5.5-acre vineyard was first planted in 1989. Initial blocks of Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, and Muscat are still thriving. These vines are some of the oldest vines in the Similkameen Valley.
In 1998 an acre of Merlot was planted and in 2002, one acre of Pinot Noir was added. In the spring of 2005 we grafted over 1000 16-year-old Pinot Blanc vines to Cabernet Franc. This will enable us to produce more of our award-winning Bordeaux blend in the future. In 2008 we tweaked the vineyard again, planting 600 Malbec vines and yet another acre of Pinot Noir.
Clonal selection, prudent vineyard work, crops thinning, and attention to detail translates into outstanding grapes and premium wines. |
Orofino also sources grapes from top quality growers who play a vital role in the quality wines we produce each vintage.
